Abstract

|
1. Effects df physostigmine and chlorisondamine on the pressor effect of McNA-343 were investigated in urethane-anesthetized rats and pithed rats.
2. McN-A-343 produced a rise of blood preseure, preceded by a transient slight fall. The pressor response was more prominent in the pithed rat than in the whole one.
3. Physostigmine caused a rise of blood pressure in the whole rat, while did little change in the pithed one.
4. Physostigmine-pretreatment caused a reduction in the pressor effect of McNA-343 in the whole rat, while did not affect its pressor effect in the pithed one.
5. Chlorisondamine potentiated the pressor effect of McN-A-343. This potentiation was more marked in the whole animal than in the pithed one.
6. Physostigmine produced a marked rise of blood pressure in the chlorisondamine pretreated whole rat, while it did a slight increase in the pithed chlorison da.mine-pretreated animal.
7. Physostigmine inhibited the pressor response of the rats to McN-A-343.
